Canada is short on prairie dogs. This little spot was part of a larger package requiring non-union Canadian talent. The challenge we faced was two-fold. First, the prairie dogs of Canada experienced an outbreak of monkeypox. Who knew? This triggered a ban on importation as well as a massive extermination. Second, we needed domesticated dogs. Dogs we can pet and put on camera. After shooting in Canada 10+ times, I know the best animal trainers in the country.
